Daav โ€” Organisation Timeline

Key milestones since founding

2019

Daav Founded

Organisation registered in Dar es Salaam with a focus on malaria care in Temeke district. First community health post opened.

2020

COVID-19 Response Pivot

Daav adapted malaria infrastructure for COVID-19 testing and isolation support, reaching 800 households during the pandemic peak.

2021

Mobile Clinic Programme Launched

First mobile unit deployed. Within 8 months, daily routes established across Temeke, Ilala, and Kinondoni districts.

2022

HIV/AIDS Programme & USAID Partnership

HIV testing and ARV adherence support launched with USAID technical partnership. 800 patients enrolled in first year.

2023

TB Programme & GiveWell Recognition

Community-based DOT programme launched. Daav shortlisted by GiveWell as a standout charity for cost-effectiveness research.

2024โ€“25

Scale & Systems Strengthening

Third mobile unit deployed. Digital health records system launched. Target: 15,000 patients served by end of 2025.

Cost Per Intervention

We calculate and publish the fully-loaded cost per intervention for every programme โ€” including overheads โ€” so donors can compare our efficiency against international benchmarks.

Costs include: staff time, medicines/supplies, transport, overhead allocation, and M&E. Last verified by external auditor: December 2024.
